Résumé keywords by role

Which skills and tools do employers actually ask for? We count them in open job posts, role by role — so you add the right ones, and only the ones that are true.

How we count keywords

Real, open job posts

We read the openings companies publish on their public job boards, sort each one into a role by its title, and count the same opening listed in several cities once.

Share of posts, not mentions

A keyword's percentage is how many of the role's posts mention it at least once — so a term repeated ten times in one post doesn't skew the result.

Framed by O*NET

Each role is matched to the US Department of Labor's O*NET occupation, which adds the skills it rates most important and the technology employers flag as in demand.

Résumé keyword questions

What are résumé keywords?
The skills, tools and qualifications a job asks for — “SQL”, “Salesforce”, “stakeholder management”. Recruiters scan for them, and many applicant tracking systems let them search and filter candidates by these terms.
How many keywords should a résumé have?
There's no magic number. Cover the must-haves for the role that are true for you, show each one in a bullet with a result, and skip the rest — a list of unsupported buzzwords reads worse than a shorter, specific résumé.
Should I copy keywords from the job post?
Use the job's own wording for skills you genuinely have — if it says “A/B testing”, don't write only “experimentation”. Never add a skill you can't talk about in an interview.
How often is this data updated?
Each page shows when its job posts were read; we refresh it regularly so new tools and rising skills show up.
