Résumé format by country
What gets you shortlisted in one country can get you rejected in another. Pick where you’re applying.
The rules that differ most are easy to get wrong: whether to include a photo, date of birth or nationality; one page or two; A4 or US Letter; and US or UK spelling. A photo is expected in Germany, optional in much of Europe and Asia, and can get a résumé set aside in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, where employers avoid bias claims. Each guide covers length, layout, personal details, spelling and what recruiters there expect — and the editor in GotOffered checks your résumé against the country you pick.
